Some people are very particular about the clothes they wear to bed, while others
couldn't care less. Some sleep only in their underwear, others naked. Some have a
favorite pair of pajamas, others just grab whatever
T-shirt is handy.
This chapter is titled #OOTN, inspired by the Instagram hashtag Outfit of the Night, under which over 11.6 million posts have been shared worldwide, showcasing people's evening outfits. Applied to the context of sleeping, the project focuses on the variety of possible sleepwear outfits.
A total of 106 participants were asked about their sleepwear and whether it differs between summer and winter. The results are presented here in four categories: Head, Torso, Legs, and Feet. The individual garments are interchangeable; in addition, the number of respondents who wear this item to sleep is displayed. This results in an outfit generator that allows for a wide variety of combinations.
You can switch between summer and winter views, and you can also display the most commonly worn combination, i.e., the most popular sleep outfit. This makes it clear that there is not one sleep outfit that universally leads to better sleep. Sleep is individual and should be viewed as such.
This generator invites you to compare your own sleepwear with that of others, see how many of the participants wear the same clothes, or be inspired and perhaps try out new possibilities.
